Malta: The Mediterrane Film Festival last night celebrated its Closing Night with the Golden Bee Awards Ceremony. The glittering event took place at the stunning Fort Manoel, Gżira and was hosted by David Walliams OBE. The evening featured performances by X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson, Saxophonist Alexandra Ilieva and Maltese lyric Tenor, Joseph Calleja.
The stars in attendance included Eric Bana, pictured above with David Walliams, who yesterday presented his masterclass in acting, Jared Harris, Natascha McElhone, Annabelle Wallis, Daniela Melchior, Joaquin de Almeida and Nastassja Kinski.
ALCARRÀS directed by Carla Simón, Spain’s selection, took the top honour of the night with Golden Bee for Best Film. The awards were shortlisted from the official selection of nine films from the MED 9 countries, and the jury was headed by Adrian Wootton OBE, CEO of Film London and the British Film Commission.
Johann Grech, Malta Film Commissioner, thanked everyone for making the first ever Mediterrane Film Festival such a stunning success. He said “We all know, that dreams without goals remain just dreams. So, we have turned our dreams into a clear goal. The goal of building a world-class film industry in Malta. Delivering jobs and opportunities for the many not the few. And we are turning that dream into a reality. The story ever evolving… a lot done, a lot to do
