The British television series The Assassin – Season 2 is currently being filmed in Malta, with principal photography taking place between 16th February and 5th June 2026.

The production consists of six episodes of 60 minutes each and is being directed by Terry McDonough and Sarah O’Gorman.

Filming is taking place across various locations in Malta, including Valletta, Floriana, Rabat, Attard, Mellieħa, Marsascala and Siġġiewi, showcasing the island’s versatility as an international filming destination.

The production is being supported by the Malta Film Commission through the 40% Cash Rebate incentive.

With a Malta-based budget of €17.1 million, the production is employing a total crew of 141, of which 120 are Maltese.

This production is contributing to continued employment opportunities for Maltese crew, while supporting the growth and development of the local film industry.

Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici stated that the cash rebate programme remains a key pillar in attracting international productions to Malta, strengthening the country’s position as a competitive filming destination and creating economic opportunities.

Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech said that productions of this scale continue to contribute to the upskilling of local crews, increased international exposure, and the long-term sustainability of Malta’s film industry.
